THRIFTY TUESDAY-EMBROIDERY HOOP WREATH

thrifty tuesday

hoop wreath

I picked up this blue hoop for $1 at a thrift store. Hoop wreaths are all over pinterest and I am a little late to the game I must admit, and if you haven’t made one yet, you should.

They are super easy, and inexpensive as fabric and hoops are plentiful at thrift stores (that is until everyone buys them up for wreaths) and so cute. I’ve seen most of them done with wooden hoops with no fabric but rather floral glued to the hoop, I did mine a little different.

For this one I simply ironed on fusible interfacing onto my plaid fabric, traced on a pumpkin, cut it out, ironed it onto my “burlap” fabric and did a quick stitching around it to reinforce it.

I made the mistake of placing my fabric in the hoop first and cutting around it, had a little work out trying to get it back in once the pumpkin was on. I suggest to sew your pumpkin on first, place the hoop on then cut it down.

To finish it I glued some leaves on, I glued them to the burlap so my hoop isn’t damaged if I want to use it for another project in the future.

Total cost for me 1$, I have tons of leaves from previous years projects and pulled the fabric from my stash.

I’d say even if you had to buy the supplies you can make it for around $5 (with plenty of leftover supplies for future projects. The interfacing helps but not necessary. You could even probably find felt pumpkin cut outs to glue or sew on your wreath.

I was thinking also how cute would a babies first Halloween t-shirt be made into a hoop wreath! Or some vintage Halloween fabric.

Happy Thrifty Tuesday
